2008…”Bring it on”
By Lucy Palmer | January 11, 2008
I love christmas but man am I ready for the new year! last year was a whirlwind to say the least.
The new year is a time to wipe the slate clean. It’s a time to reflect and create change in your life. One of the best lessons I learned from my dad (who passed away in July last year) was to not spend time looking in your rear view mirror! You can’t change the past. Only use the past to springboard into the future.
I am so excited about 2008 I can hardly stand it! Like every year, I have been “listing” over the last couple weeks all of the changes I want to make this year.
I have been making ”lists” ever since I was little! My sister and I get together and play “lists” (This is when you make lists of things to make list of) - can you say type A?????? Anyway, I just sat down with about a million pieces of paper, napkins, gum wrappers, deposit slips, receipts and just about anything that can be written on, of ideas that I have been jotting down over the last couple of weeks. I even wrote a marketing idea using an eye pencil because I couldn’t find a pen!
I absolutely love lists! This year I am going to organize my lists into categories. To do’s (personal/business), goals (personal/business), brainstorms, people to contact this year, etc..etc..and put them in a 3 ring binder.
There is something refreshing about looking back at your lists and reflecting on how many things you accomplished! For me, it’s away of holding myself accountable and holding others accountable for their commitments.
If you’ve never made a list (other than a grocery list)…try it! You would be amazed how focused it allows you to be without even thinking.
Here’s to a great year. Cheers!
